Build your first gig in SongChute
October 17, 2026 · 2 min read
A gig in SongChute is your show: the songs in order, split into sets, with breaks and an encore. On the night, it becomes the deck everyone plays from.
Create the gig
Open Gigs in the left menu and choose New gig. Give it a name ("Legion, Saturday Nov 14") and a date, then save. You land in the gig editor with Set 1 ready to fill.
Add songs
In each set there's a search box. Type a few letters of a title or artist and pick the song. Press Enter to add the top match, which makes it very quick to type in a whole set.
- Use ↑ and ↓ to move a song up or down.
- Use × to take it out.
- Add set adds Set 2, Set 3 or an Encore. Add break adds a break between sets, with its length in minutes.
Click Save when you're done.
You can also add a song from its own page: in Song details, under Add to gig, pick the gig and the set, and click Add.
Catch duplicates before the stage does
Playing the same song twice in one night happens to every band. Click Check duplicates and any song that appears more than once lights up, with how many times it's in the gig. SongChute also warns you the moment you add a song that's already there.
Already have a set list? Import it
If your set list is in an email, a note or a spreadsheet, choose Import a list in the gig editor and paste it in:
Set 1
CCR - Proud Mary
The Band - The Weight
Wagon Wheel
Break 15
Set 2
Tom Petty - Free Fallin
Encore
Jolene
Each line is matched to a song in your songbook. "Set 2", "Encore" or a line ending in a colon starts a new set, and "Break 15" adds a fifteen-minute break.
Have last year's gig as a PDF deck? Use Import gig / set list from the Gigs menu and upload the PDF. SongChute reads its song list and builds the gig for you to check.
Reuse sets you play every week
If you open every night with the same five songs, save them as a set list and drop them into any gig in one click. That's Part 6.
