How to use SongChute · Part 7 of 10

Share with your band and play in sync with live follow

October 17, 2026 · 2 min read

This is where SongChute really earns its place on stage. Everyone in the band opens the same gig on their own phone or tablet, and when the leader moves to the next song, everyone moves with them.

Invite your bandmates

Open Band in the left menu. Under invitations, enter a bandmate's email and choose their role:

  • Member: sees what you share, and can follow along.
  • Editor: can also help edit the band's songs.

They get an email with a link. A band can have up to six people: the leader plus five.

Share a gig

New gigs start out private. Open the gig and click Share:

  • Set General access to your band, and everyone in it can open the gig. It shows under their Collab gigs.
  • Or add specific bandmates by email, as viewers or editors.

Your songs inside a shared gig come along with it, so your bandmates see the same charts you do.

Present mode

Press Present on the gig. The menus fade away and the song fills the screen. To move between songs:

  • Swipe left or right on a tablet.
  • Tap or click the chart for the next song.
  • Use the arrow keys or Page Up / Page Down. Most Bluetooth page-turner pedals send these, so a foot pedal works too.

Between sets you'll see a title slide, so everyone knows a break or the next set is coming. Need a song that isn't on the list? Press / to search.

Live follow: one swipe moves the whole band

  1. The band leader opens the gig, presses Present, and taps Lead in the bottom-left corner.
  2. Everyone else opens the same gig. The gig page shows a red Join live button with who is leading. Tap it, or tap Follow in Present mode.
  3. When the leader moves to the next song, every follower's screen lands on it a moment later.

Each player still sees their own view: their key, their capo, chords or lyrics only, and their own sheet music (Part 8).

Looking ahead

If a follower swipes ahead to check the next song, following pauses so they're not pulled back mid-glance. When they're ready, they tap Back to the leader's name and they're back on the current song.

Handing over

Someone else calling the next set? They tap Lead to take over. Tap Stop when you're done.

Try it before the gig: open the gig on two devices, Lead on one, Follow on the other, and swipe through a few songs.

In Part 8: sheet music for the players who read parts, not chords.
