How to use SongChute · Part 8 of 10
Sheet music for violin, fiddle and horns (in the same gig as the chords)
October 17, 2026 · 2 min read
Not everyone plays from chords. Your fiddle player, horn section or string quartet reads parts. SongChute keeps their sheet music alongside the chord charts, so the whole group runs from the same gig.
Upload your sheet music
Open Sheet Music in the left menu.
- Drag your PDFs or photos of charts onto the upload area, or click to choose them. You can add several at once.
- To attach a file to a song, start typing the song's title and pick it. With several files, attach each one from the list after uploading.
You can also add music from a song's own page: in the right-hand panel, use Add sheet music to this song.
Your sheet music is private. Only you see your files.
See it exactly as written
Click View on any file. SongChute shows every page as it was printed, sized to your screen:
- Auto shows one full page when your tablet is upright, and two pages side by side when you turn it sideways. A two-page tune fits on one screen with no page turn.
- 1 page, 2 pages and Fit width are there if you prefer.
Match your music to someone else's gig
Here's the part violinists love. Your band leader builds the gig with chord charts. You have the parts.
- Open the shared gig and click My sheet music.
- Upload your PDFs right there. Files named after the song ("Wild Rover.pdf") match themselves to the songs in the gig.
- Pick the right file for any song that didn't match, and click Save.
Matches are remembered. The next gig with the same songs already has your music.
Follow along with your own music
Press Present on the gig. On every song where you have sheet music, a green Sheet music button appears. Tap it and your part fills the screen. It stays on from song to song until you tap Chart.
Follow the band leader with live follow (Part 7), and your sheet music turns with the band. The leader sees their chord chart, you see your part, and everyone is on the same song.
Tips for clean sheet music
- Scan or export at a good resolution. Phone scanning apps that "flatten" the page work well.
- One song per file makes matching automatic.
- Name files after the song, exactly as it's titled in the gig.
